In a significant leap for residential energy storage, German manufacturer Energiekonzepte Deutschland (EKD) has unveiled the Ampere.StoragePro (ASP) system, a home battery system.
Designed to deliver unparalleled performance, longevity, and safety, the ASP could be a game-changer in the energy storage landscape.
“The Ampere.StoragePro sets new standards in terms of performance and flexibility for modern energy storage systems. With innovative components and functions, it takes your energy supply to a new level,” said the company.
Exceptional lifespan and safety
According to EKD, laboratory tests have revealed a potential lifespan of up to 48 years for the ASP. This is a significantly higher figure compared to the industry average of 24 years.
This remarkable durability can be attributed to the ASP’s sophisticated integrated security system.
This system continuously monitors the home’s energy network, proactively shutting down in response to any voltage, temperature, or current irregularities.
The inclusion of additional sensors further strengthens the system’s safety by detecting potential short circuits or improper installations before they escalate into problems.
Longevity through LFP cells
While laboratory findings hint at an even longer lifespan, EKD conservatively guarantees full performance for ten years.
“Even after the 10 years have passed, the Ampere.StoragePro retains much of its original capacity, making it a sustainable and economical solution for long-term energy storage,” EKD claimed.
This is because the company utilizes prismatic lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, renowned for their safety and ability to endure up to 12,000 charging cycles.
“LiFePO4 cells are also considered particularly safe because they do not contain any toxic chemicals and have a high level of thermal stability,” explained EKD.
Impressive performance
The ASP doesn’t just excel in lifespan; it also redefines performance standards.
Charging and discharging speeds are amplified by up to four times compared to conventional systems, with a peak discharge capacity of 20 kW.
The system’s efficiency is further bolstered by the inclusion of a 12 kW three-phase inverter, three independent MPP trackers, and intelligent shading management technology.
EKD asserts that this combination can lead to an impressive 20% increase in actual storage performance.
Flexibility is another key feature of the ASP. It is available in six different versions, offering storage capacities ranging from 6.6 kWh to 23.1 kWh.
“This impressive performance allows you to get the maximum energy out of your solar system even on days with little sunshine. By storing the energy efficiently, you have the flexibility to use it in the evening, at night or whenever the sun is not shining,” read EKD’s website.
Future of energy storage
It is notable that the energy sector is currently brimming with new technologies and developments.
Recently, Stanford University researchers developed a new manufacturing approach that aims to enhance the production of semi-transparent and low-cost solar cells using tungsten instead of silicon.
Earlier, researchers at the Oxford University created a new material that could transform everyday objects, like backpacks and mobile phones, into energy generation devices.
