After ten months of operation day and night, in rain and fog, the service zone gradually expanded to cover 65 square miles (168 square kilometers) of open roads, becoming the largest fully driverless RoboTaxi service area in China.
In tandem with the announcement, the company released a video of its driverless RoboTaxi swiftly navigating through the busy streets of Shenzhen and pulling up to the curb in front of a long line of parked vehicles dropping off passengers at the train station.
AutoX is the first and currently only company in China operating a fully driverless RoboTaxi service on public roads without safety drivers. AutoX is also the second company to obtain California DMV’s completely driverless RoboTaxi permit. The company has RoboTaxis on the streets of multiple Chinese cities, including Shenzhen and Shanghai.
