Chinese manufacturer Anycubic is apparently preparing the market launch of a new foldable 3D printer. The as yet unnamed device has already won the iF Design Award 2025 and is aimed at users looking for a portable printer with advanced mechanical capabilities. Technical drawings and initial product details suggest a model that still offers a high printing capacity with a low overall height.
When folded, the device measures just 75 millimeters in height. This is made possible by an ingenious axis system: five rotation axes allow the moving parts to be folded in and stored compactly. At the same time, these axes also allow flexible positioning of the print head during operation. According to the manufacturer, the maximum height is 460 millimetres, which is remarkable for a portable system.
The exterior design is based on a minimalist housing in gray-silver. The print bed has a square design and is likely to be made of glass or a coated material that promises good adhesion and easy removal of the print objects. An actively cooled extruder unit is designed to prevent blockages. Filament is stored in an integrated spool holder in the base of the device. The drawer system allows quick access and protects the material from external influences.
It is operated via a touch display, which can be used to adjust printing parameters and monitor processes. Connections are also available: In addition to two USB-A ports, the device has a USB-C port and a micro HDMI port. This allows print data to be imported directly without the need for an additional control unit.
Anycubic has not yet announced an official release date. There is also no information on the price yet.
