Creaform presented the HandySCAN 3D|EVO Series on October 21, 2025, in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. According to the manufacturer, the devices are built in an ISO 17025–accredited lab and verified to ISO 10360. As part of AMETEK, Creaform is targeting portable measurement tasks in development and quality assurance with the new generation—particularly in the automotive industry, metalworking, and mechanical engineering.
At the core of the series is a handheld laser scanner with a 4.3-inch touchscreen and an integrated 12-MP camera. The camera serves both for process documentation and AR-assisted overlays on the device, for example for pose verification or scan validation. The system is complemented by a local GUI on the scanner that enables parameter access, mesh post-processing, clipping tools, and a high-resolution mode—without constantly switching to the PC software. For mobile scenarios, Creaform offers an optional mobility kit with wireless connectivity.
The flagship model, HandySCAN EVO|Elite, captures with 46 blue laser lines plus an additional line. Creaform specifies a point accuracy of 0.020 mm and a volumetric accuracy of 0.020 mm + 0.015 mm/m. A 350 mm scale bar supports field calibration to control measurement uncertainty over larger volumes. Automatic alignment is intended to speed up recurring inspections by robustly recognizing references between scan passes. Data evaluation is carried out in the Creaform Metrology Suite; common CAD and inspection-report workflows are supported directly.
Creaform positions the EVO Series as an evolution of the HandySCAN line, which has shaped the portable 3D-scanner segment for over 20 years.
