The end of Reason.
Climate changes are threatening a third of the world’s population.
“Simple actions such as unplugging appliances when they’re not in use or switching to LED light bulbs are money-saving actions individuals can take to cut down on the amount of harmful pollution they contribute to the air.” [The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference 2023]
When nonsense such as the quote above is released by the UN’s climate change conference to calm the masses of people of our world, we have indeed, reached the end of reason.
For two weeks, thousands of South Africans have been lining up for water as the country’s largest city, Johannesburg, confronts an unprecedented collapse of its water system affecting 6 million people. South Africa’s largest cities, Johannasberg, and Pretoria are out of water. Some reservoirs are down to 10%. The government is appealing for all possible conservation measures. The city’s residents, many of whom haven’t had water from their taps for weeks, wait for daily deliveries from municipal water trucks, so they can fill jugs and containers. The beginning of winter is still weeks away. There are no guarantees of rain.
A study published in the journal “Nature Sustainability in 2023” found that 3 to 6 billion people — roughly one-third to half of the global population — could eventually be “trapped” outside of “climate niche” areas that best support life, with an estimated 2 billion people potentially being impacted over the next eight years. The study, which built upon work published in 2020 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, took population growth, policy options, and temperatures into consideration.
While populations in the wealthier countries of the northern portion of EU, Canada and the United Stated can afford to help their citizens who are forced to relocate, many countries cannot. Two billion people who live in the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn will be forced to relocate in the next 25 years. Central America and Mexico are under severe drought. The Panama Canal is restricting the numbers of transits through the canal to conserve the fresh water in Gatun lake, which feeds the locks. 6% of world trade passes through that vital waterway.
The Southern hemisphere has nearly ended it’s hottest Summer on record. While we haven’t seen the detail reports in our newspapers, they suffered from fires and droughts, that will soon begin in our half of the World.
Our Southern border will need to be strengthened and hardened against the coming waves of millions of desperate people who will soon be seeking refuge here.
Have a nice day.
