DIMPACT is a collaborative initiative between leading media, entertainment and technology companies and world-class researchers.
Part tool and part community, DIMPACT has been developed with cutting-edge expertise from computer scientists at the University of Bristol, and is convened and delivered by Carnstone, a sustainability consultancy based in London.
Our Tool
Created to measure, understand and ultimately reduce the emissions of serving digital media and entertainment products, DIMPACT’s web application takes the complexity out of calculating the carbon emissions of delivering digital media and entertainment products.
Currently, the DIMPACT tool estimates the emissions associated with video streaming, online banner advertising, digital publishing, and audio streaming, but we are at work to also include capabilities to measure audio streaming and video conferencing soon.
Our Community
Our community of organisations started at nine but is now made up of over twenty companies from across the media, entertainment and technology sectors, all with an interest in working to reduce their digital emissions and bring transparency to consumers, business, and the sustainability community.
The goal of our community is to bring together a set of engaged people to share learnings, develop best practice, and jointly engage with the wider industry.
The project is convened and facilitated by Carnstone Partners Ltd, a management consultancy, specialising in sustainability and corporate responsibility.
The research and technical expertise is provided by the University of Bristol Computer Science Department.
The web application is developed by quiet science.
